At GCC we value children and see them as an integral part of the church. We want to see them developing in their relationship with God whilst having fun and feeling accepted.
Children generally will stay in for the first quarter/half an hour with the adults for some worship together, and then they leave for their age-appropriate groups.
An announcement will be made when it’s time for the children to leave for their activities. Parents are welcome to observe these activities and use the facilities available.
At 10:45am children aged 2 to year 5 go to the kids’ group.
We start by gathering together to have a snack and a drink and some time to share any news. We then use the Scripture Union Splash! material to base our sessions on, where we aim to use many different approaches to appeal to the different learning styles and interests of the children. We also have time to play with a variety of toys and to pray together.
At 11am our youths (year 6+) head to The Old Library where they have brunch together.
They learn about the bible and how it relates to their lives. The group aims to help young people start or develop a relationship with Jesus. We are using the Lumen material from Youth for Christ at the moment.
Through the week
Bubbles is a community toddler group for children aged birth–five years and their carers. It runs every Friday during term time from 10–11.30am in The Old Library. There are toys and activities, story, snack and song time. The cost is £1 per family and all are welcome.
We have a safeguarding policy and all of our helpers have had DBS checks. Parents and carers are very welcome to stay or come into their child's group at any time. We look forward to welcoming you!
